Importing data from survey equipment into Studio Survey

Survey Import Module

To access this dialog:

  • Using the Home ribbon, click Survey Import | Import Survey.

The Survey Import Module (SIM) is used to import and manage survey station data and connect to survey equipment data. With it, you can process and create raw files from the Leica Geosystems range of survey equipment. The application will read data from the GRE3/GRE4, TPS1000, TPS1100, TPS1200, TS15, and also supports GPS1200 instruments. The application will also create data files ready for use on these instruments from a Datamine string file or from a survey station database. The application can read and write directly to the Leica system DBX database, this eliminates any requirement to convert data onboard the instrument.

A valid Survey Database connection must exist before you can launch the SIM utility.

You can set up a database connection using the Database Settings dialog

 

The application uses a FLD (Field) file to process data. The FLD file is generated from the GSI or DBX file. This file makes it very easy to view edit and interpret observations. The FLD file is explained in detail later.

The module is comprised of a File menu and a series of tabs corresponding to a survey equipment type (e.g. Leica®). Each equipment tab contains parameters that are specific to the selected item.

A Log window displays a record of each executed command and system messages, including warnings and errors.

Click Exit to close the Survey Import Module and return to the Studio Survey application.
